Overview of PhotoDocs

Laserfiche PhotoDocs is designed to bring documents that have been captured using a digital camera into your Laserfiche repository. In other words, it enables you to use a digital camera as a scanner.

Most of the processes available in PhotoDocs are designed to improve the quality of the text generated by the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) process when it is run on documents captured with a camera. And, many of these stages can be automated.

Processing in PhotoDocs involves stages similar to those in other Laserfiche capture products. Steps include:

  1. Bringing images into PhotoDocs
  2. Creating documents (merging pages into a single document)
  3. Applying processes (or groups of processes known as profiles)
  4. Reviewing and modifying the documents, including modify the document metadata (Document Properties Pane). You can review the thumbnails of multiple pages in the Workspace, or review and modify a page at a time in the Image Editor.
  5. Storing the documents

PhotoDocs can also be used to reprocess documents already in a Laserfiche repository that may benefit from its specialized algorithms.

Important: PhotoDocs is only supported with the Laserfiche Client. It cannot be used with Web Access.
